A TRAVEL expert revealed an easy trick to avoid two items from "always leaking" in your suitcase.

Knowing how to pack your essentials can save you time and stress when travelling.

There's hardly nothing worse after a long day of travelling than opening your bag to find that your toiletries have leaked all over your clothes.

Even with a carefully packed suitcase, is always good to be extra cautious ahead of time to avoid any spillage. 

Packing whizz Vanessa Gordon revealed that items such as sunscreen and facial wipes can easily leak.

To avoid any mess in your luggage, she said: “I always pack these types of items in sturdy, sealable silicone bags to help eliminate leakage.”

Vanessa also recommended packing additional waterproof bags to keep wet bathing suits and washcloths separated from your dry things while you travel.

The travel guru went on to explain the best way to keep delicate items, such as earrings and necklaces, safe during travel.

“I never pack my jewellery in a checked bag and try to avoid checking my luggage whenever possible.”

Meanwhile, a travel whizz shared a clever hack which many other people seem not to be aware of.

Those small little silica gel packets that are often found packed in with a whole number of items usually end up in the bin but they can be reused in a number of ways.

Travel and fashion TikTok star Patrice, known online as @patricejwill, has advised her thousands of followers not to just simply throw the little packets out as they can become very handy.

In a short clip on the social media site Patrice said: “Do not throw these away.

“These are natural deodorisers, and they remove moisture.”

While appearing to pack for a trip, she added a handful of the silica gel packets into her suitcase, saying they can be useful if your bathing suit is wet and can also save your mobile in a pinch.

As silica is a drying agent, it helps keeps things fresh and free of mould an odours.

The gel packets can absorb up to 40 per cent of their weight in moisture, reports Discover magazine.

It should be noted though that the tiny sponge-like pellets inside the packets can be a choking hazard and that other desiccants can be toxic.
